MARIST COLLEGE CANBERRA ROWING CLUB

HISTORY AND MISSION

Marist College Canberra Rowing Club (MCCRC) was established in 2010. The broad aim of the MCCRC is to develop the sport of rowing within the College and to improve the overall standing of rowing within and outside the College.

Our mission is to provide an effective support infrastructure for the Marist College rowing program such that students can participate in all aspects of rowing while developing their skills and interest for rowing in a safe enjoyable and competitive environment. The club's vision is to be a leading school rowing program in the ACT in competition, development and governance.

WHY PARTICIPATE IN ROWING?

Rowing is a sport that builds and develops both mental and physical strength, team work, discipline and commitment. Rowing provides an opportunity to improve endurance, stamina, strength, balance, and confidence as well as build and develop a lifelong love for fitness and the water.

WHAT IS THE COMMITTMENT REQUIRED?

Training is held on two afternoons per week as well as Satuday mornings across two locations - Lake Tuggeranong Rowing Club and Marist Rowing Shed at Yarralumla. Boys train in their year groups and are supervised both on and off the water. Training is never cancelled due to inclement weather - there is always indoor training. All training sessions are mandatory.

Boys are selected by coaches to participate in a number of Regattas across the season, and if selected, participation is mandaroty.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2023/24 SEASON
